Some tips for making homemade bread

No, making homemade bread is not complicated! If you want to embark on the adventure and join the 25% of French people who already practice home baking, here are some practical and useful tips:

1- Choose a quality flour : there is no good bread without good flour! Prefer organic flours, without additives, unrefined. Wheat flour is certainly the most widespread, especially T55, but it is not the healthiest because it contains a lot of gluten. Feel free to choose higher types T65, T80, the higher you go the more complete and beneficial the flour will be. Also think about using other bread flours such as rye or spelt, rich in iron and low in gluten. You can also mix and match different flours to suit your tastes and diet, and switch to a healthier gluten-free bread.
2- Beware of water : Do not use tap water but mineral water at room temperature for the yeast to rise.
3- Yeast : obviously you have to use baker’s yeast and not pastry yeast, fresh or dehydrated. You can add a teaspoon of sugar or honey to activate its powers. You can also opt for sourdough.
4- room temperature : always make your bread in a warm place, the dough does not like the cold!
5- For a French toast : Put a small bowl of water in the pan during cooking, to have a soft bread and a crispy and colorful crust.
6- Invest in a bread machine : if you have decided to make your bread at home, it will make your work easier and save you a lot of time. It allows you to make different types of breads and supports kneading, resting time and baking.

This is why the use of the latter as protection is not recommended. Therefore, covering the toilet seat with paper will not protect you from bacteria, on the contrary, you will even come into direct contact with these germs.

Although public toilets are usually dirty and retain bad odors accumulated throughout the day, the seats, on the other hand, are specially designed to prevent germs from staying. Those made of non-porous plastic are among the most germ-free surfaces in public restrooms. In fact, a large number of microbes are found on door handles or flush buttons.

However, some experts have revealed that public restrooms may be cleaner than the sponges we use to wash dishes every day. But if we do not know how they were used before us, it is worth protecting against bacteria. However, there is a more reliable method than covering the seat with paper.

To be more serene when using public toilets, take toilet paper slightly moistened with water and a little alcohol (such as a hydroalcoholic solution), then wipe the seat with a “rag”. Afterwards, you can safely sit on the seat. It is the most hygienic solution that will protect you from contact with germs. If you happen to have no alcoholic solution, you can crouch down without touching the seat. Then wash your hands well with soap and warm water.

Other solutions to scare away mice from your house

Here are some tips and tricks to prevent the appearance of mice and drive out the ones that are already inside your house.

  • Cover all openings: it is necessary to block any type of possible entrance to the house, be it cracks in the walls, doors, windows or any other suspicious hole. Especially if it’s a bright space that will attract rats. Do the same for pipes, curtain covers, or vents.
  • Seal trash cans: remember to always close the lid of the garbage cans. Even opt for an adjustable lid to keep it securely closed, whether you’re inside the house or out on the patio. Remember that mice and rats will always be drawn there to eat whatever food is within reach. The less access they have to it, the easier it will be for you to get rid of.
  • Do not expose pet food : if you leave your dog’s or cat’s croquettes well exposed outside or even inside the house, the mice will not resist the temptation. This food contains a lot of fats that rodents like.
